Some clients will find that research has been done on their lines by others. Some of this is quality research with sources provided to document the information.

Other research will contain many errors, many of which have been copied and re-copied and distributed in many online databases without sources.

This type of information should not be taken at face value. In most cases you will want to check original records to document names, dates, and places, and then record the source information for future reference.

Most compiled databases, including those available online, consist of contributions from individuals and contain much conflicting information.  Most of these databases contain no record of sources to document the information. Although a good starting point, most of this information should be documented through original research before being considered accurate and complete.
